America’s founders signed the Declaration of Independence by pledging their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor with a “firm reliance on the protection of divine providence.”

On this 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, let us stand for truth and celebrate the momentous blessing it is to be Americans.

As John Adams famously said, “facts are stubborn things.”

We would not have America, the greatest country in the history of the world, if it were not for the Christian faith and tireless efforts of our founding fathers. The entire American Revolution was itself miraculous evidence of God’s will.

Thanks to the Great Awakening’s spiritual revival, a renewed focus on truth, justice, liberty, and the reality of a divine God that grants us our rights, our founding fathers penned the Declaration of Independence to appeal to a higher authority than man.

Samuel Adams in his famous speech for American Independence on August 1, 1776 asserted that the founders had “restored the Sovereign to whom alone men ought to be obedient.”

Our rights don’t come from government. They come from God. America is great, and worth fighting for.

Despite the constant mantra of the Insiders that “this doesn’t happen in Wyoming,” lawfare is happening here, and we’re not going to stand for it.

A concerned Wyoming mother was taken to court by school officials for pointing out faults in the local school district’s bullying and mental health policies.

Engaged citizens have been sued for criticizing a congressional candidate.

A longtime legislator and attorney tried to kick his primary opponent off the voter rolls — and Governor Gordon recently gave him a judgeship.

The same former legislator (and now judge) also filed a losing defamation case against the WY Freedom PAC for pointing out the unpopular voting records of liberal Republican legislators.

We need anti-SLAPP protections

These cases abuse the legal system for political purposes — they aren’t filed with the intention of winning, but to harass and silence their targets.

For two years in a row, the Wyoming Senate has stopped our legislative efforts to protect Wyomingites from strategic lawsuits against public participation (“SLAPP” cases for short).

Championed by WYFC member Representative Pepper Ottman, an anti-SLAPP law would protect targets of lawfare by giving them a chance to have meritless cases dismissed early and have their legal expenses reimbursed by the plaintiff.

The Recalibration bill is the biggest investment in Wyoming schools in history and locks money in the classrooms where it belongs through the educational silo.

Schools can no longer take money intended to pay teachers to inflate bureaucracy. Districts still control spending within the silo — so long as it’s where the learning actually happens.

The Recalibration bill supports teachers.

Districts are statutorily barred from transferring funds for teacher salaries elsewhere.

The Recalibration bill expands CTE.

The bill provides more funding for career & technical education to help provide Wyoming students real world skills and pathways into Wyoming’s workforce.

The Recalibration bill creates more opportunities for dual enrollment.

Schools receive additional support for high-performing students to take college classes while still in high school.

The Recalibration bill puts students first.

The new model focuses resources on students, teachers, and opportunity in the classroom — NOT administration.

The Recalibration bill is financially smart.

The bill stops insurance funding for “ghost employees” and reduces the average daily enrollment calculation for purposes of per-pupil funding by using data from the average of 2 years instead of 3. This will better reflect the actual number of students in schools as we face declining enrollment across the state.

School Finance is expensive. That’s why we worked to slow the growth of government spending.

While the Insiders lazily accused the WYFC of “cutting just to cut” when discussing the budget bill, they ignored the truth.

The Wyoming Legislature is constitutionally obligated to fund public education. At the current rate of growth, our Legislative Service Office Budget and Fiscal Office forecasts show the state being in a budget deficit by as early as 2029 due to K-12 spending.

To ignore the impending fiscal crisis today irresponsible. We have a constitutional responsibility to fund education while limiting runaway growth.

Though Management Council meets infrequently, the body casts votes regularly on a variety of matters, including whether to initiate investigations, reimburse legislator travel, and more.

These votes are routinely conducted via email and are not made public.

Recently, members of Management Council were presented with a clear violation of legislative rules and policies — and the body declined to take action.

During the 68th Legislative Session, a registered lobbyist doubled as a legislator aide to a member of Senate leadership

Jordan Apollo Pazell is a registered lobbyist for D.C.-based Center for Ballot Freedom, Chicago-based Simple Majority, and Utah-based LLCC.

According to public records, the Center for Ballot Freedom is funded by Democracy Fund Voice through Tides Advocacy (which also financially supports the Southern Poverty Law Center), left-wing organizations that work to undermine integrity in our elections.

The presence of a partisan lobbyist in the Wyoming capitol is not newsworthy.

What is newsworthy is the fact that this registered lobbyist has gained unprecedented access to the Wyoming Senate chambers by doubling as a legislator aide to a member of Senate leadership.

On February 19, 2026, Senate Majority Floor Leader Tara Nethercott and Mr. Pazell signed the LSO Legislator Aide Policy Acknowledgement, which expressly prohibits aides from serving concurrently as lobbyists. This practice is also prohibited by Management Council Policy 96-01.

As a result, House leaders sought to have the matter investigated internally by the Management Council, which includes Representatives Neiman, Heiner, Haroldson, Bear, and Yin and Senators Biteman, Salazar, Nethercott, Crago, and Gireau.

The House members voted 4-1 in favor of the motion.

The Senate members refused to cast their vote and the motion to investigate the matter failed.

The people of Wyoming deserve access to the actions of Management Council and a true firewall between paid lobbying activities and legislator aide positions.

Hosted by the Wyoming Trial Lawyers Association, the meeting was styled as a panel discussion on “threats to democracy in Wyoming.”

What resulted was an hour long struggle session about the Wyoming Freedom Caucus and our conservative allies in the Wyoming Legislature.

WYOMING MOM SILENCED FOR SPEAKING OUT: After a Rock Springs mother spoke out about her concerns with Sweetwater County School District #1 mental health and bullying policies, the district used the courts to prevent her from speaking at school board meetings.

Known as a strategic lawsuit against public participation, or “SLAPP” case for short, the District’s attempt to shut this mother down ultimately failed. But it never should have happened.

LAWSUIT FILED TO THROW SOS OUT OF OFFICE: Laramie-based attorney Tim Newcomb filed a lawsuit to throw duly (and overwhelmingly) elected Secretary of State Chuck Gray from office.

LEGISLATOR ATTEMPTED TO REMOVE OPPONENT FROM VOTER ROLLS: On the eve of the 2024 primary election, chairman of the now-defunct “Wyoming Caucus” attempted to remove his opponent — now-WYFC member Darin McCann — from the voter rolls.

POLITICIANS SUE TO SILENCE CRITICISM: Two Rock Springs lawmakers — also represented by former Representative Clark Stith — filed a meritless SLAPP defamation case against the WY Freedom PAC for pointing out their unpopular voting records.

How do we know it was meritless?

Both legislators claimed a conflict of interest when voting on our anti-SLAPP legislation — because they were actively engaged in a SLAPP case themselves.

After nearly two years, the case was rightly dismissed last week.

Wyoming attorney and legislator wants more

During a January webinar hosted by the Wyoming Trial Lawyers Association, Senate Majority Floor Leader and lawyer Tara Nethercott called on participants to engage in more lawfare.

A recording of the webinar, which was advertised as being open to the public, has been shared with the WYFC.

After praising violent anti-ICE rioters in Minnesota for their courage, attorney and webinar moderator Bill Schwartz passed the mic to attorneys Tom Lubnau, Tim Stubson, and Senator Nethercott.

Following a lengthy discussion of the WYFC, Stubson discussed two high-profile lawfare cases litigated by Clark Stith and called on participants to “step up.”

Nethercott spoke next, opening her remarks by putting it all in the open:

Is it a coincidence that the Wyoming Senate killed the First Amendment Protection Act?

For the second year in a row, a Senate committee killed a bill to stop lawfare in Wyoming.

After clearing the House of Representatives 54-4, the bill was referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Senators complained that the bill was imbalanced because it favored individual rights too much.

After axing WYFC member Pepper Ottman’s First Amendment Protection Act, Wyoming is now one of only 10 states without an anti-SLAPP law.

After public outcry, the Joint Judiciary Committee announced it will study anti-SLAPP protections during the interim.

The committee’s first meeting comes next week, and anti-SLAPP is first up on their agenda.

Contact the members of the committee and urge them to support the First Amendment.

The mainstream media has shared few details about Reeves with the people of Wyoming — other than his promised $500,000 salary and Sweetwater County roots.

According to the MacArthur Society of West Point Graduates, an organization of alumni dedicated to restoring and protecting the military academy, Reeves ushered in discriminatory and woke DEI practices during his tenure in New York.

Appointed to West Point’s Academic Board by Joe Biden in 2021, Reeves signed contracts prioritizing race-based policies and brought in studies in “whiteness.”

Despite President Trump’s June 2025 Executive Order prohibiting woke DEI at our military academies, these race-based courses, policies, and programs remained at West Point— while Reeves continued on in academic leadership.

The World Needs More Cowboys, Not Eco-Feminists

In a February column highlighting UW’s similar refusal to abandon DEI programs and policies, WYFC member Representative Bear pointed out the obvious: UW administration apparently prefers a Wyoming of gender queer theory over a Wyoming true to the code of the West.

The Wyoming Legislature enacted WYFC Chairman Rachel Williams’ bill to prohibit discriminatory DEI in 2025.

FAKE NEWS: The Freedom Caucus lost all but one of its priorities.

The media and their allies in the Legislature were eager to see the Freedom Caucus fail this session.

Despite their claims, this session was a success. Thanks to our conservative majority in the Wyoming House, we passed:

• A budget that slows the growth of government

• Historic school recalibration that requires dollars be spent on teachers and in classrooms, NOT administrators

• Pro-life protections for innocent preborn babies and life-affirming pregnancy centers

• Heightened criminal penalties for ghouls who stalk and sexually groom minors

• Common sense requirements for CDL drivers to prove English proficiency

• Funding and preparation measures for fire season

• Clear, transparent standards for pre-election voting machine tests

• Protections for homeschool access to school activities and sports

• Bills to bolster the Second Amendment

And we stopped countless big-government boondoggles, too.

FAKE NEWS: The House of Representatives “rolled over” to the Senate in budget negotiations.

Making no effort to correct the blatant falsehood claimed by Representative Harshman on the House floor and instead reporting it as fact, WyoFile unsurprisingly omits the truth behind the legislature’s budget negotiations.

The numbers tell the story the press won’t.

After second and third reading on the budget bill, the House came in $170 million below Governor Gordon’s request, the Senate just above his request.

The final budget landed $143 million below the Governor’s request.

During negotiations, (which lasted over five hours, not fifteen minutes) the Senate agreed to accept 84% of the reductions made by the House.

That’s not “rolling over.” And we’re proud to have held the line in the face of a liberal Senate and a liberal Governor.

FAKE NEWS: The Governor submitted a “frugal, sensible budget.”

Nearly drooling over the Chief Executive, Wyoming PBS’s Steve Peck characterized Governor Gordon’s $11 billion budget as “frugal” and “sensible.”

We disagree (and so do the facts).

State expenditures have increased 59% since Gordon took office in 2019, outpacing inflation. GDP is below average in Wyoming, inflation is above average and median household income is below average since 2019.

How many Wyoming families have seen their household incomes increase by 59% since 2019?

FAKE NEWS: There just wasn’t enough time to get conservative priorities across the finish line in the Senate.

Running cover for the Senate Minerals Committee, Cowboy State Daily’s David Madison falsely reported that WYFC Vice Chairman Chris Knapp’s bill to repeal Wyoming’s woke carbon capture mandates died because lawmakers simply ran out of time.

The truth?

Senate Minerals, stacked with liberal legislators (Senators Anderson (R), Cooper (R), Jones (R), Nethercott (R), and Rothfuss (D)) heard the bill in its entirety, took public comment, worked the bill, and then tabled it without a vote.

No time constraint prohibited a vote of the five members.

FAKE NEWS: BIAS BY OMISSION

The lack of coverage of the goings-on in the Wyoming Senate should tell Wyomingites that something worth reporting on was indeed happening in the upper chamber.

And there was.

On the last day for bills to be heard in Committee of the Whole, Senate leadership started the chamber’s work late in the day, took hours and hours worth of breaks, and quit early.

The Senate’s decision to dodge their workload resulted in ten critical, conservative priorities being killed without a single vote.

All the while, a small group of Senators shared a pizza with a left wing registered lobbyist who doubles as a legislative aide to Senate leadership.

That’s newsworthy. But for some reason, the mainstream lying Wyoming press won’t touch it.

But the Wyoming Freedom Caucus will.

How did this happen?

It’s no accident. After decades of liberal governors and a secretive judicial nominating process, abortion activists were able to codify a right to end the lives of unborn babies in Wyoming.

Weak governors + judicial secrecy

Unlike the process used to place judges on the federal bench (a presidential nomination and Senate confirmation with public buy-in), Wyoming judges are chosen by a group of insiders behind closed doors.

The Wyoming Constitution creates the Judicial Nominating Commission, comprised of 3 governor-appointed members and 3 Wyoming Bar Association-appointed members. These individuals provide the governor with a list of three names, one of which must be sent to the bench. This means voters have no direct say, and the legal profession itself plays a major role in choosing judges.

When liberal governors work with a liberal bar association, you get a liberal Judicial Nominating Commission— and liberal judges installed in courthouses across the most conservative state in America with zero public input allowed— and if you dare to comment on who’s headed to the bench, you’ll get a lecture on why you need to shut up about it.

Carrie Campbell Severino, president of the Judicial Crisis Network and expert on judicial selection, characterizes this system as “the favored method of selecting judges among liberal legal activists, because it helps the far-left leaning state-bar associations to capture a state’s legal infrastructure by giving them the dominant role in the selection of judges.”

While Wyomingites were growing their families, building their businesses, paying their taxes and trusting their government, liberal actors worked together behind the scenes to undermine our values and “legalize” abortion.

Here’s how it happened.

2013: Abortion attorney gets Supreme Court nod

After defending NARAL in court, Kate Fox was catapulted to the Wyoming Supreme Court by former Governor Matt Mead.

2022: Gordon appoints Judge Melissa Owens just in time for historic pro-life legislative wins

WYFC Chairman Rachel Rodriguez-Williams in 2022 successfully passed a “trigger law” to ban abortion in Wyoming in the event that the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. Later that year, the Court did just that, returning the issue of abortion to the states for regulation.

Seemingly lying in wait after being handed a district judge slot just months earlier, now infamous Teton County Judge Melissa Owens blocked the law, legalizing abortion from the bench after abortion activists forum-shopped their way to Teton County for their lawsuit.

It wouldn’t be the last time she did so.

2023: Judge Owens declares abortion a “right” for “pregnant people”

After passage of the historic Life is a Human Right Act in 2023, abortion activists again leapt into action. In blocking the Life Act, Judge Owens manufactured a right to abortion, even referring to pregnant women as “pregnant patients.”

WYFC members Rachel Rodriguez-Williams and Speaker of the House Chip Neiman attempted to intervene in this case to help defend the law, but were kicked to the curb by the Supreme Court.

Of note: Gordon’s appointed Attorney General Bridget Hill could have, but did not seek to have this lawsuit transferred to an impartial venue outside of Teton County. Hill also could have, but did not include the testimony of pro-life OBGYNs in the state’s case. These doctors were left to file an amicus brief with the court instead.

2024: Gordon vetoes basic safety rules for abortion mills

While our pro-life protections were strangled by the Teton County District Court and lethargic advocacy by Gordon’s Attorney General, the Wyoming Legislature passed a law to require abortion mills abide by safety standards required of all ambulatory surgical centers in Wyoming, including, ironically, birthing centers.

Gordon vetoed the bill.

2025: Abortion mill regulations signed by Gordon, immediately blocked by retired judge

One year after vetoing safety rules for Wyoming abortion bills, Governor Gordon signed the same bill with little fanfare. Wyoming’s lone abortion mill decried its passage and shut its doors.

Within days, a retired judge blocked the law.

Retired Judge Thomas Campbell was appointed to preside over the monumental case — by Supreme Court Chief Justice Kate Fox (remember her?).

Thanks to this little-known maneuver, a judge who will never face another retention vote was empowered by the Wyoming Supreme Court to green light the surgical slaughter of babies.

Also 2025: Chief Justice Kate Fox leaves bench, replaced by Gordon’s Attorney General

Required by law to exit the Court at age 70, Chief Justice Kate Fox retired from the Wyoming Supreme Court in the spring of 2025.

Governor Gordon replaced her with his appointed Attorney General Bridget Hill.

2026: Supreme Court declares “right” to abortion — with the help of retired Justice Kate Fox

After years of fighting, waiting, and praying, the Wyoming Supreme Court announced on January 6th that the state constitution contains a “fundamental right” to abortion in a 4-1 decision.

Voting to manufacture a “right” to abortion were Justices Fenn (a Gordon-appointee), Jarosh (a Gordon appointee), Boomgaarden (a Mead appointee), and retired Justice Kate Fox.

Due to her involvement in the abortion litigation prior to her appointment to the Supreme Court, now Justice and former Attorney General Bridget Hill did not participate in the case, enabling NARAL attorney Kate Fox to enjoy one last ride on the state’s highest bench.

In Wyoming there exists a revolving door of insiders and woke ideologues who could never get elected, and they craft policy with zero public input.

What now?

1. Join us as we pray for the protection preborn Wyomingites.

2. Donate to or volunteer with your nearest pregnancy resource center.

3. Support the WYFC in our efforts to protect life and achieve judicial accountability this session.

These wins strengthened freedom, restored accountability, and enraged the liberals who have controlled state government for decades.

10. Victory for conservative representation in House Leadership

After the 2024 election cycle brought enough freedom-loving candidates into the Wyoming House of Representatives, the lower chamber, for the first time, elected true conservatives to leadership positions. Speaker Chip Neiman (HD 1), Majority Floor Leader Scott Heiner (HD 18), and Speaker Pro Tempore Jeremy Haroldson (HD 4), all founding members of the WYFC, helped shepherd the House with conviction and drive.

9. Victory for meritocracy

This year WYFC Chairman Rachel Rodriguez-Williams (HD 50) led the fight to end discriminatory, woke “DEI” in all public institutions. Signed into law this spring, HB0147 codifies a common-sense, colorblind approach to Wyoming government and schools. After all, Wyoming is the equality state, not the equity state.

8. Victory for homeschool freedom

Wyoming became the 11th state to allow parents to homeschool their kids without a government-issued permission slip— and the first to repeal any such requirement. WYFC member Tomi Strock (HD 6) sponsored the Homeschool Freedom Act which makes clear that in Wyoming, we don’t co-parent with the government.

7. Victory for checks and balances

Liberal Governor Gordon made equally liberal use of his veto pen in 2025, attempting to kill popular conservative legislation. The WYFC-led House of Representatives forced override votes on key bills, reminding Gordon that the Legislature is in fact a coequal branch of government. The Legislature overrode a historic five vetoes, including bills that protect preborn life, expand school choice, and rein in Gordon’s own executive branch.

6. Victory for women and girls

Before the WYFC took over the state House, “Republicans” repeatedly blocked our efforts to protect women and girls. In 2025, that changed. The Legislature passed the “What is a Woman Act,” which provides for truthful, biological definitions of “male” and “female” in Wyoming law. We passed a bill to protect women’s spaces, and finally acted to keep men out of women’s collegiate athletics.

5. Victory for the Second Amendment

After over a decade of attempts, WYFC member Jeremy Haroldson successfully sponsored historic legislation to repeal deadly gun-free zones in Wyoming. Governor Gordon withheld his veto pen from the bill, but didn’t hesitate to whine about it while allowing it to take effect without his signature. We’re proud of our work to restore the Second Amendment in Wyoming— in the Cowboy State, individual liberties don’t end because a local official (or RINO governor) feels squeamish about guns.

4. Victory for taxpayers

Over the past several years, Wyoming taxpayers have been bludgeoned by skyrocketing property tax bills. In 2025, we passed an ongoing 25% residential property tax cut. Be sure to fill out the required affidavit by March 1 in order to receive the 25% reduction on your next property tax assessment!

3. Victory for public safety

While Biden opened the floodgates to millions of illegal aliens during his disastrous four years in the White House, American highways — including Wyoming’s — became more dangerous. WYFC member Pepper Ottman (HD 34) sponsored a bill to ban illegals from driving on our roads. Now the law, House Bill 116 has already resulted in the removal of dozens of illegal aliens from Wyoming roadways.

2. Victory for election integrity

Alongside Secretary of State Gray, the WYFC championed a first-in-the-nation bill to require proof of U.S. citizenship and Wyoming residency in order to vote in Wyoming elections. Despite the naysayers cries that “there is no voter fraud in Wyoming,” we believe that even one illegal ballot cast is one too many. It’s simple: only U.S. citizens who are Wyomingites should be voting in Wyoming elections.

1. Victory for Charlie Kirk's legacy

The September 10 assassination of Charlie Kirk shocked the world. An unapologetic advocate for the gospel, Charlie never shied away from speaking the truth. His bravery in the face of violent opposition should inspire us all to never give up in the fight to preserve our Republic.

In October the WYFC, alongside grassroots supporters from across Wyoming, held a fundraiser in Charlie’s honor to benefit TPUSA at the University of Wyoming. The sold-out event celebrated Charlie’s legacy and raised over $20,000 for the freedom fighting students in Laramie.

Liberal flops prove 2025 was a good year

As a conservative, you often know you are over the target based on the quantity of liberal tears shed over any action you take. This year, liberals in Wyoming were in constant search of a shoulder to cry on.

Not only are the reactions of RINOs, democrats, and the press good indicators of how close conservatives are to a win—they’re also entertaining.

10. The disappearance of the “Wyoming Caucus”

The so-called “Wyoming Caucus” (a group of Good Old Boy RINOs and democrats in the Legislature) came out swinging in 2023 to “organize” against the WYFC. After losing a majority of their members to the 2024 election cycle, many have been left to ask, “what happened to the ‘Wyoming Caucus?’”

The mysterious disappearance of the “Wyoming Caucus” Facebook page and flashy banner advertisements on Cowboy State Daily came without much mention in the press- but we noticed.

9. Senate floor tantrum over protecting women’s sports

While arguing AGAINST a bill to protect female intercollegiate sports from male invaders, “Republican” Senator Cale Case (SD 25) claimed that human beings aren’t either male or female. Watch it here.

8. RINO loses it over WYFC guest column

After WYFC Chairman Emeritus John Bear (HD 31) penned a guest column calling out legislators for representing the government instead of the people, one such House member gave an emotional floor speech to let us all know how much it hurt his feelings. He even threatened to censure Representative Bear for the column. Apparently it really touched a nerve…

7. WYFC derangement syndrome finds a new home in the Governor’s office

Governor Gordon felt the need to double his communications team this year, adding former Liz Cheney handler and WYFC-obsessed podcaster Amy Edmonds to his staff. After spending all summer angrily lying about the fate of WYFC priority bills and mocking our interim work, Amy and Gordon cleverly labeled the WYFC “club no.”

Why?

6. Ousted RINO “fears” WYFC

Albert Sommers, famous for killing key conservative bills during his tenure as Speaker of the House, whined to the liberal media about the WYFC after being rejected by the voters of Senate District 14 in western Wyoming.

While he adamantly maintains he’s a conservative, we’d like to remind Albert that when the Jackson Hole News & Guide writes puff-pieces about you, you’re anything but conservative.

5. WEA lobbyist won’t say kids shouldn’t have porn at school

The NEA’s Wyoming affiliate has its own Randi Weingarten. When asked by a member of the Joint Judiciary Committee whether minors should have access to sexually explicit materials at school, WEA lobbyist Tate Mullen couldn’t say no.

4. House Rep loses his cool

Repeating the media’s favorite line that the WYFC is “told how to vote” by some out-of-state string-puller, Representative Landon Brown (HD 9) admittedly loses his cool on the House floor. This comes a mere week after threatening to run away and bury his head in a snow drift during debate on another bill.

3. RINO admits she’s ashamed of conservative policy changes

After passing historic property tax relief, universal school choice, repealing gun free zones, and shoring up election integrity, Representative Julie Jarvis (HD 57) shared that she was ashamed to be a part of the majority conservative House.

Unlike Julie, we’re proud of the historic wins we delivered this year.

2. LAWFARE: Woke nonprofit attempts (and fails) to toss our election integrity legislation

With the help of Trump-hating Marc Alias, the Equality State Policy Center filed a bogus lawsuit to throw out our first-in-the-nation law to require proof of U.S. citizenship and Wyoming residency to register to vote.

Thankfully, these efforts failed spectacularly.

1. “Horse crap” on the House floor

In order to slow down conservative reforms on the House floor, RINOs worked together to filibuster tag-team style. When called out for wandering off topic, Representative Lloyd Larsen (HD 54) lashed out, shouting on a live mic.

Fighting for Wyoming Energy

In July, the Trump Administration announced its intent to repeal the Obama-era “endangerment finding” that has been used to destroy the Wyoming energy industry and American energy independence.

The WYFC submitted the following comment to the EPA in support of this historic — and common sense — move.

WYFC member and House District 5 Representative Scott Smith joined the tens of thousands in Arizona to celebrate Charlie Kirk’s life — and walked 3 miles on crutches to get there.

From the article:

No objects were allowed in the stadium but keys, cellphone, and a sealed bottle of water. Smith’s water was gone by the time he made it to the line anyway.

There were so many obstacles that, to Smith, seemed to be telling the pair, “Turn around.”

“And walking as far as I did was painful,” he recalled.

But according to Smith, God led him on through the pain.

“I just felt inspired by the Lord that, ‘Hey, it’s a moment in history, and you should be a part of it – in honor of a man that deserved being honored,’” he said. “The number one takeaway (from that funeral) is the most important thing in life is your walk with Christ.”

Earlier this month, the Trump Administration announced that Wyoming has been spending taxpayer funds on disturbing sex-ed curriculum, including programming encouraging students to engage in LGBT-oriented “sexual pressure” role play activities.

The WYFC called out the Department of Health. By no surprise, Governor Gordon came to their defense.

There’s no excuse for this kind of nonsense in Wyoming.

As we approach the 2026 budget session, the WYFC is committed to ridding our schools of all woke indoctrination materials and programming.

A 31-year old brother in Christ, husband, father, friend, and leader was shot in front of a crowd while engaging in open debate on philosophy and politics on a college campus.

Disturbingly, a shocking portion of our nation were either indifferent to or thought it was justified — including prominent Wyoming democrats.

Charlie’s ability to articulate objective truth was unmatched. He masterfully communicated the pro-life position, defended the superiority of free markets, explained the importance of the family, and shared the truth of the Gospel. He created a movement that ended up winning President Trump the popular vote — all without hate, violence, or force.

We know that no one can fill Charlie’s shoes. But conservatives can collectively take up his mantle and continue charging forward.

The Wyoming Freedom Caucus will do our part to continue Charlie’s mission in the Cowboy State.

There’s a lot of work to do, and if Charlie taught us anything, it’s that we must not be idle in the fight for freedom and liberty.

Wyoming Department of Health Sex Ed Curriculum Suggests Kids Engage in Sexual Role Play

Last week, Trump’s Department of Health and Human Services sent a letter to the Wyoming Department of Health over disturbing sex ed content published using federal funds.

According to the Department of Health, the curriculum is intended for use in Wyoming’s 7-12th grade sex ed courses.

The Department of Health encourages students to share their pronouns — like “their,” “zir,” or “hir” — and promotes Orwellian DEI garbage.

What’s more sinister is the fact that the Wyoming Department of Health’s curriculum contemplates forcing students to engage in “sexual pressure role play.”

This is unacceptable.

We are grateful to the Trump Administration for shining a light on this troubling misuse of federal funds by the Wyoming Department of Health.

Freedom Caucus Calls for Pardon of Wyoming Small Businessman

Before being fired by the American people, the Biden Administration did everything it could to cement its unpopular agenda, including the politicized and egregious prosecution of Wyomingite Troy Lake.

Lake, a diesel mechanic, was raided by federal agents over woke carbon regulations — not criminal law passed by Congress, but anti-energy and anti-human rules promulgated by unelected bureaucrats.

As President Trump rightly moves to repeal “green new deal” energy regulations, we joined Wyoming Speaker of the House Chip Neiman’s letter urging a pardon.

Wyoming’s Own Ketanji Brown Jackson?

After years spent listening to RINOs claim that the woke gender ideology mob doesn’t exist in Wyoming, we witnessed a man join a UW sorority.

The brave sisters of Kappa Kappa Gamma sued to restore their all-female space — but in August, a Wyoming judge tossed their case, claiming that he couldn’t understand basic biological definitions of woman because, as he put it, he doesn’t have a “degree in biology.”

School Districts Are Still Ignoring the Homeschool Freedom Act

After the overwhelming passage of House Bill 46 (sponsored by WYFC member Representative Tomi Strock), Wyoming parents no longer have to get permission from their local school district in order to educate their kids at home.

Still, some districts have sent questionable letters to homeschool families demanding information despite no longer having the authority to do so.

America’s top homeschool advocates at Homeschool Legal Defense Association have been working overtime to let these districts know that in Wyoming, the right of parents to homeschool their kids must be respected.

RINO Senators Kill Carbon Capture Mandate Repeal

This week EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin announced the White House’s plans to repeal the endangerment finding — a woke Obama-era relic that opened the floodgates to regulatory attacks on Wyoming’s core industries by classifying carbon dioxide as a grave threat to human life.

As the Trump Administration moves to end carbon capture mandates on our energy producers, liberal Wyoming republicans voted to keep state level mandates in place, killing a bill to repeal them during a meeting of the Joint Minerals Committee.

Joining the committee’s lone Democrat in blocking the common sense repeal were Senators Jim Anderson (SD 28) Ed Cooper (SD 20), & Tara Nethercott (SD 4).

SCOTUS Delivers Conservative Wins

This month the United States Supreme Court wrapped up what will go down as a historic term for conservatives— including Wyoming conservatives.

Protecting Children from “Gender Affirming” Abuses

The high court upheld a Tennessee law protecting children from chemical and surgical mutilation in the name of “gender affirming care.” This decision affirms the legality of our law banning the same kind of abuses in Wyoming, which was enacted last year despite Governor Gordon characterizing such protections as a violation of parental rights.

Protecting Children from Online Smut

In a 6-3 decision, the Supreme Court upheld a Texas law requiring pornography websites to ensure that their users are adults. As it turns out, states have the authority to protect children from harmful material online. The Wyoming Legislature passed a similar measure earlier this year.

Reining in Power Hungry District Courts

In a major victory for President Trump, the court rejected the unprecedented use of nationwide injunctions by federal district courts. Writing for the majority, Justice Amy Coney Barrett rejected Justice Katanji Brown Jackson’s radical interpretation of American law and tradition:

An Imperial Judiciary in Wyoming?

After passing the most impactful piece of education legislation since the creation of the Hathaway Scholarship two decades ago, the Wyoming Legislature joined the school choice revolution with the passage of a universal school choice program earlier this year.

Joint Labor, Health & Social Services Committee Forwards Conservative Priorities

Conservatives took the steering wheel at the first interim meeting of the Joint Labor, Health & Social Services Committee, forwarding the following critical priorities:

• Revival of our bill to protect pregnancy resource centers (this bill died at the hands of Senate leadership earlier this year).

• Revival of a MAHA bill to request a SNAP waiver for sugary “food” purchases in Wyoming (this bill died in a Senate committee earlier this year).

• Drafting of a bill to require full toxicology reports of violent crime suspects to identify the presence of SSRIs and other psychotropic drugs.

Pregnant People?

WYFC Chairman Rachel Rodriguez-Williams and WYFC member Representative Pepper Ottman pressed the Wyoming Department of Health on their use of the term “pregnant person” on their website— and asked the Department to revisit their current vaccine recommendations for expecting mothers.

ELECTION INTEGRITY: Earlier this month, the Joint Corporations, Elections & Political Subdivisions Committee met in Lander. WYFC members led the way, making successful motions to study the following election integrity bills at their next meeting:

• HB 131 - Ballot drop boxes-prohibition.

• HB 245 - Pen and paper ballots.

• HB 238 - Ballot harvesting prohibition.

• HB 217 - Random hand count audits of election results.

• HB 232 - Elections-hand counting for recounts.

• HB 307 - Poll watchers-polling station observation.

• HB 173 - Independent candidate requirements.

• HB 278 - Elections-voting machine and voting system tests.

• HB 160 - Voter identification-revisions

• HB 206 - Elections-acceptable identification revisions-2.

JUDICIAL REFORM: After our call for judicial reform, the Joint Judiciary Committee forwarded for discussion a proposal to incorporate much needed transparency and public input into the judicial selection process in Wyoming.

PROTECTING CHILDREN

The Judiciary Committee also moved forward with a bill draft to keep pornographic sex books out of the children’s section of our public and school libraries. Shockingly, this common sense measure was met with pushback from some Wyoming librarians.

WYFC member Representative Ann Lucas said it best in a recent column:

I didn’t start out to make this a library issue. But libraries made it their issue.

I just want our children shielded from adult level sexually explicit material everywhere, in schools and our public libraries.

Just move the nasty stuff to the adult section. But the libraries wouldn’t budge.

..…

Opponents call this “book banning” because it’s a convenient way to shut down debate. This is a red herring, designed to make principled, concerned parents look like extremists.

But the real extremists are those who believe there is no issue with young children being handed a how-to manual on anal sex while they’re at school or the public library – and yes, this is happening in Wyoming.

MORE LAWFARE

With the help of infamous left wing attorney Marc Alias, a woke lobbying group filed a federal lawsuit against Secretary of State Chuck Gray in an effort to throw out our law requiring proof of citizenship to vote in Wyoming elections.

The press spends weeks discussing (and dissecting the lives of) possible appointees, and once one is picked, the justice-to-be faces public confirmation hearings and a vote of the U.S. Senate. This system has served our nation well for over 200 years.

The process isn’t so transparent at the state level. WYFC member Representative Joe Webb (HD 19, Uinta) broke it all down in a recent column:

What’s worse is that secretive Judicial Nominating Commission has, in recent years, become increasingly politicized— and so has the Wyoming Bar Association. Like many of our trusted institutions, the legal community has seemingly become a victim of left-wing institutional capture— so much so that the judicial nomination process in Wyoming has routinely elevated liberal activists to the final stages of the selection process, all without the public knowing it.

In 2023, we raised alarm over the Judicial Nominating Commission’s elevation of a highly partisan political activist to the “final three” stage for the Wyoming Supreme Court.

The Lawyers Active in WY PAC (“LAWPAC”), funded by many of these same legal insiders, has given tens of thousands of dollars to liberal Republicans and Democrats in every election cycle for over a decade. Here’s who they supported in 2024:

The result of liberals on the bench.

As more ideologues serve as judges, the more Wyomingites lose trust in the judicial branch— and that is not a good thing. As conservative attorney Cassie Craven put it, belief in the judiciary is what makes it effective.

When judges declare from the bench the existence of a constitutional right to abortion, people stop taking the court seriously.

When a judge dictates that in order for Wyoming schools to be properly funded, each student must have their own laptop computer, people start asking, “how did we get here?”

Can’t a conservative governor fix this?

While a true conservative governor could fix a lot, he or she would be hamstrung by the current judicial selection process in Wyoming.

The Judicial Nominating Commission narrows down the possible pool of judicial appointments to three names. So long as the Commission remains secretive and influenced by legal insiders, apolitical or conservative attorneys (who do exist in Wyoming) will continue to be left out of the process— even if a conservative governor wants to choose one of them.

It’s time.

The people of Wyoming deserve a judicial branch they understand and believe in— and this doesn’t mean they are entitled to one they agree with 100% of the time.

Wyoming deserves a transparent judicial selection process, public buy-in, and real checks and balances.

A former New Mexico judge was also arrested for sheltering a fugitive member of the Venezuelan gang and designated foreign terrorist organization Tren de Aragua.

Since President Trump took office in January, Americans have witnessed an unprecedented number of nationwide injunctions issued by activist judges in an attempt to thwart his America First agenda.

Under the U.S. Constitution, lower federal courts are creations of Congress— they have jurisdiction over limited kinds of controversies and historically have refrained from exercising power over the whole country.

Disturbingly, this hasn’t stopped woke judges from engaging in national security and foreign policy decisions.

American confidence in our judicial system hits historic lows with every poll— and it’s no different in Wyoming.

Wyoming Needs a New Bench

Our nation’s founding fathers wisely constructed the American form of government to feature three distinct branches of government, each able to check the other two.

When the president appoints a federal judge, the people, through the U.S. Senate, have a say in whether that person should make it to the bench.

This isn’t how it works in Wyoming.

Our system uniquely shields judges from a public confirmation process and even hands much of the appointment process to the Wyoming Bar Association.

Article 5, Section 4 of the Wyoming Constitution creates the Judicial Nominating Commission, comprised of 3 governor-appointed members and 3 bar-appointed members. These individuals provide the governor with a list of three names, one of which must be sent to the bench.

Governor Gordon recently appointed his own Attorney General to the Wyoming Supreme Court through this process.

Why This Matters

By outsourcing the initial nomination process to the Wyoming Bar Association, the pool of possible judges is severely limited, and not in a good way.

Many of the Bar’s most active members have openly advertised their Left-wing politics by filing bar complaints against and penning woke letters to Wyoming’s lone Congresswoman Hageman over rightfully expressing concerns over the rigged 2020 presidential election.

A lack of public buy-in to the judicial selection process has left Wyomingites feeling confused, upset, and blindsided by the decisions reached by many on the bench.

Judges are Legislating From the Bench

Instead of resolving legal disputes, Wyoming judges are more frequently than ever making policy proclamations in their orders.

• Last spring, a Gordon-appointed Teton County judge made shockwaves when she declared abortion to be a constitutional right, referring to pregnant mothers as “pregnant patients” during oral arguments in her courtroom.

• Just days ago, a retired judge struck down a different law to require surgical abortion centers to have the bare minimum safety standards of any other surgical center in Wyoming, claiming again from the bench that abortion is a constitutional right.

• Earlier this year, Laramie County judge Froelicher held that the Wyoming Legislature has unconstitutionally underfunded public schools. In his 186-page opinion, he went so far as to stipulate that in order to properly fund education, the state must purchase more laptop computers- specifically, one for every enrolled child.

Free Speech is Under Attack

• A family in Gillette is being sued by a former government employee after raising concerns over pornographic materials in their local public library— as is their right and duty as decent Americans. The judge in that case is allowing the lawsuit to move forward.

• Attorneys representing the women of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority have been sued by the male who invaded their female-only space for “embarrassing” him.

• A judge in Sweetwater County has allowed a meritless defamation case to continue against the WY Freedom PAC over election mailers containing candidate voting records.

What Now?

The Wyoming Freedom Caucus is committed to restoring integrity in state government, including within the judiciary. For far too long, the judicial branch has been seen as untouchable, outside the realm of criticism.

As our founders knew well, all human institutions are capable of corruption. It’s time for judicial reform in Wyoming in a way that gives the people a stake in our bench.
