An activist judge in Teton County has proclaimed a "fundamental right" to abortion in Wyoming. Now what?
On Monday, a Gordon-appointed district court judge in Jackson Hole blocked Wyoming’s historic pro life laws. In so doing, Judge Owens declared that there exists a “fundamental” right in our state constitution to kill unborn babies for any reason or no reason at all.
After WYFC Chairman Rachel Rodriguez-Williams ushered the Life is a Human Right Act through the Wyoming Legislature in 2023, abortion activists went forum shopping, taking to the courts in liberal Teton County. They argued that abortion is health care.
We know that it isn’t.
Health care doesn’t result in the death of a defenseless human being.
Health care doesn’t cause purposeful starvation, suffocation, or dismemberment of a non-consenting person. After all, when a mother is pregnant, there are two patients involved.
But according to Judge Owens, abortion doesn’t deal with the “two-patient” paradigm in prenatal medicine. One must ask, “what, then, is being aborted?”
What else does her opinion say?
Judge Owens’ summary judgment order is riddled with Kamala Harris-style, pro-abortion talking points posing as legitimate jurisprudence.
Parroting the radical propaganda of Planned Parenthood and the like, the order states that abortions are similar to “wisdom tooth removal, a cancer-screening colonoscopy, and plastic surgery,” and that “abortions are safer than childbirth.”
What now?
While this ruling shocks the conscience, it is not the time to bow out of the fight to protect the unborn and stand with mothers. Here’s what you can do:

Join us in prayer for a culture that no longer looks to abortion to solve problems, one that celebrates motherhood, rallies around mothers of unexpected or unplanned pregnancies, and one without violent victimization of women (outside and inside of abortion clinics).
