Last week, Governor Gordon vetoed several bills important to the people of Wyoming:
HB0125 Repeal Gun Free Zones
SF0054 Homeowner Tax Exemption
HB0148 Regulation of Abortions
SF0103 Wyoming PRIME Act
SF0013 Federal land use plans- legal actions authorized
We have been repeatedly asked if the Legislature can exercise its constitutional authority to override these reckless vetoes.
Thanks to the actions of leadership, we can’t.
In a clever election year scheme, legislative leadership introduced these critical bills as late as possible and closed up shop early, allowing the Governor to veto the bills they voted AYE on while holding their noses— knowing they’d never be enacted in the end.
We believe that the people of Wyoming are deserving of a legislature that finishes what it starts. That’s why we are calling on leadership to call a Special Session of the Wyoming Legislature.

A NO vote on the special session is a vote to support the Governor’s vetoes.
A NO vote on the special session is a vote to empower abortion mills, to disarm Wyoming citizens, and to enshrine a single-branch dictatorship in Wyoming government.
On the property tax front, the Governor's veto of SF 54 was particularly disappointing (his veto letter explanations left me scratching my head). Wyoming property owners (like me) ARE the tax payers. I don’t own a multi-million-dollar home, I do own a home, however, that has seen its property tax go up a whopping 96.4% since 2020. The state has received a windfall of additional money during the crazed COVID-driven real estate escalation (somewhere around $280M or so I’ve read). Ironically, the Governor did sign HB 3 (HEA 44) into law. The optics—as I dare to use that word—of this appear to indicate he is okay with receiving a 50% break on his own property taxes (given he's 67, a self-professed "lifelong Wyoming resident" and therefore I would assume eligible), but thinks giving a 25% break to those of us under 65 (for a couple of years) is somehow a “socialistic type of wealth transfer”. I fail to see the difference between the “wealth transfer” of the two bills. What I do see is the State never weaning itself away from the COVID-era bonanza of cash. Instead, Wyoming will just keep breaking the backs of its residents. I have already contacted my State Senator and State Representative and have also sent a message to the Governor. I urge all Wyoming residents to do the same and support convening a Special Session.
