Today the House sent Senate File 9, Parental Rights in Education, to the Governor’s desk.
It came to us filled with loopholes, including provisions allowing school staff to withhold information from parents and language suggesting health screenings may be conducted on your child without your knowledge.
The WYFC, through three rounds of debate and multiple amendments, led the charge in making this bill live up to its name.
We removed the exceptions that would have empowered staff to keep secrets from parents. We added language requiring parents provide consent for school-based health screenings. We ensured that no classroom instruction in woke gender ideology will take place in Wyoming.
We refuse to let do-nothing bills pass us by and are proud to have made Senate File 9 much better than how it came to our chamber.
The Wyoming Senate has concurred with our improvements, and the bill is on its way to the Governor’s desk.
Contact Governor Gordon and ask him to sign this common-sense legislation into law.
Great Job
