WyoLeg: Week Five Recap
What we're working on from the Senate-- and what the Senate's done with House bills.
This week was “crossover week,” meaning that the House began working on Senate Files, and the Senate began working on House Bills. Any bill that didn’t make it out of its chamber of origin is now dead.
Under WYFC leadership, here’s some of what the Wyoming House has sent over to the Senate:
Bills requiring voters to prove their Wyoming residency and U.S. citizenship (HB0156* and HB0157)
A ban on discriminatory DEI (HB0147)
A measure to invalidate driver’s licenses issued to illegal immigrants by sanctuary states (HB0116*)
A bill to prevent tax dollars from being wasted by ESG investing (HB0080)
A 50% property tax cut with a backfill to local governments (HB0169)
Codification of biological definitions of “female” and “male” (HB0032)
Universal school choice (HB0199*)
Enhanced homeschool freedom (HB0046*)
A bill to bolster parental rights (HB0200)
Protection of women’s sports in K-12 and at UW (HB0072*)
A ban on the use of taxpayer funds for drag shows (HB0134) (yes, that really happened in Wyoming).
A repeal of Wyoming’s “green new scam” carbon capture mandates (HB0209)
Prohibition of sanctuary cities (HB0133*)
A repeal of deadly gun free zones (HB0172*)
A ban on unattended ballot drop boxes (HB0131*)
A prohibition on ballot harvesting (HB0238*)
Requiring photo ID for voting (HB0160)
A prohibition on private funds for conducting elections (i.e., “Zuck Bucks”) (HB0228)
Poll Watchers Bill of Rights (HB0307)
Medical ethics protections (HB0222)
First Amendment protections against lawfare (HB0223)
Privacy protections for purchasers of firearms and ammunition (HB0234*)
A ban on central bank digital currencies (HB0264*)
Limitations on the duration of executive orders (HB0227*)
A bill à la MAHA to stop the purchase of junk food with SNAP (HB0323)
* indicates the bill has been sent to a Senate committee by the Senate President

Senate Files On Our Desks
This week we began working on Senate Files, including the Senate’s version of a 50% property tax cut, tax exemptions for business property, protections of girls bathrooms and locker rooms in public schools, and bills to protect our agriculture industry, like mandatory country of origin labeling and a measure to oppose the fed’s attempt to mandate electronic cattle eartags.
ICYMI: WYFC Virtual Town Hall
On Thursday, the WYFC held a virtual town hall to address some of the hot topics discussed by Wyomingites— and misrepresented by the press.
You can watch it here.
Keep at it! And, thank you! 🇺🇸
