Wyoming House Goes on ANOTHER Budget-Busting Midnight Spending Spree
After three days of deliberations, Uniparty lawmakers have added $300 MILLION to the budget.
As introduced, the budget bill would establish the largest biennial budget in Wyoming history. Since opening up the bill for debate on Monday, the Uniparty has added over $300 million to it. The Wyoming Freedom Caucus offered $300 million in offsets and reductions- which were rejected by the tax-and-spend lawmakers in the House.
What’s worse- Representative Crago (R- Johnson) sought to punish the people of Wyoming if their elected representative dared to disagree with him on the efficacy of the bloated budget. He offered an amendment that would deny emergency infrastructure funds to districts represented by lawmakers who vote against the porked-out bill.
Thankfully, he withdrew his amendment. As it turns out, vindictive budgeting is unconstitutional- called “punishment by appropriation” and violative of the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution.
STATE SUBSIDIZED GENDER TREATMENTS?
On Monday we celebrated a successful amendment brought by Representative Sarah Penn (R- Fremont) to prevent state funds from being used on “gender reassignment” treatments at the UW Family Practice Clinic in Casper- which the subsidized clinic proudly proclaims to provide.
Last night, liberal lawmakers reversed that amendment. 28 republicans voted to continue subsidizing “gender affirming” care.
According to Representative Oakley (R- Fremont), doctors need the freedom— and your tax dollars— to mutilate people.
DEI at the University of Wyoming
The Wyoming House rejected a common-sense budget amendment stipulating that no taxpayer funds be put toward racist DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) policies at the University of Wyoming. Our sole four-year university should not abandon meritocracy in favor of race-based, divisive ideologies. This time, 30 republicans joined the 5 democrats to enshrine DEI at UW.
After all, woke capitalism has taken over America- why not inject the minds of our college students with it at your expense? According to Representative Dan Zwonitzer (R- Laramie), that’s why you have to keep funding it.
Here’s how the vote broke down:
What’s next?
The Wyoming Senate adopted a slew of different amendments to the budget bill across the Capitol. In the coming days, negotiators (selected by leadership) will meet to begin working out a final product.
